Poetry

Yab (the Male)
Always the form, never the space

Always the sun, never the moon
Always the land, never the sea
Always the buyer, never the bought
Always the thinker, never the thought

Always the mechanic, never the car
Always the hunter, never the prey
Always the key, never the latch
Always the flame, never the match

Always the mason, never the stone
Always the sailor, never the boat
Always the criminal, never the crime
Always the prose, never the rhyme

Always the sculptor, never the sculpture
Always the flower, never the stem
Always the pounds, never the pence
Always the sound, never the silence

Always the heard, never the listener
Always the surfer, never the wave
Always the builder, never the place
Always the form, never the space.

Yum (the Female)
Never the form, always the space

Never the sun, always the moon
Never the writer, always the book
Never the teacher, always the taught
Never the thinker, always the thought.

Never the cook, always the diner
Never the parent, always the child
Never the throw, always the catch
Never the flame, always the match.

Never the namer, always the named
Never the actor, always the script
Never the clock, always the time
Never the prose, always the rhyme.

Never the painter, always the painting
Never the gardener, always the soil
Never the dancer, always the dance
Never the sound, always the silence

Never the singer, always the song
Never the picture, always the frame
Never the taster, always the taste
Never the form, always the space.

Yab-Yum

Male and female - two sides of one coin
Form and space - two halves conjoined.
Beyond half-hearted physical gender
Man or woman with halves combined
Becomes yab-yum, the enlightened mind.
