Poetry

Words

I have so very much to say!
And yet I hold my tongue.

For why should my opinions
Mean a thing to anyone?

I speak when I am spoken to,
And listen hard as well.

I'll softly say a thing or two,
And hope that you can tell:

My intention is just to express
The words that bubble in my throat,

They push and jostle for attention
- Like a crowd crossing a moat.

I rather hope you get my drift!
Although maybe, I'm not so clear.

My jaws just seem to tense around
Those words - from love or fear.

I do have something to announce,
Please bear with me and let me speak.

That way the words might flow in line,
Revealing to both of us, something unique.
